One Calculation of cooling capacity of chiller
To calculate the cooling capacity, the first step is to understand the common units and conversion methods of cooling capacity. Below, I will list them one by one.
The common units are cold tons per horsepower per kilocalorie (kcal), and their conversion methods are as follows.
1 US cold ton=3024 kilocalories per hour (kcal/h)=3.517 kilowatts (KW)
1 Japanese ton of cold=3320 kilocalories per hour (kcal/h)=3.861 kilowatts (KW)
1 horsepower (or 1 horsepower power)=735.5 watts (W)=0.7355 kilowatts (KW)
1 kcal/h=1.163 watts (W)
Generally, the cooling capacity of a chiller is based on the United States, measured in metric tons. For fan coil units, the cooling capacity is measured in kilowatts, which can be converted accordingly.
Example: The calculation method for calculating the cooling capacity of a cold (hot) water machine involves a water storage tank (with a capacity of 10 cubic meters and a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius). The water needs to be cooled to 7 degrees Celsius within 4-5 hours by a chiller. How much heat is required, what is the power required for the compressor, and how is it calculated.
Calculation method:
1. Volume (liters) × degree of cooling ÷ cooling time (minutes) × 60 ÷ 0.86 (coefficient)=(W);
2. Volume (ton or cubic meter) x degree of cooling ÷ cooling time (hour) ÷ 0.86 (coefficient)=(KW);
Calculate according to the above method:
4 hours, 10000L × ∣ 7-15 ÷ 4h ÷ 0.86=23255W=23.255KW;
5 hours, 10t × ∣ 7-15 ÷ 5h ÷ 0.86=18.604KW;
II Calculation of heat transfer area of condenser
Calculation of heat exchange area for air-cooled condenser: cooling capacity+compressor motor power ÷ (200~250) ㎡.
Example (Valley Wheel 3SS1-1500 Compressor) CT=40 ℃: CE=-25 ℃, compressor cooling capacity=12527W+compressor motor power.
The ratio of water-cooled condenser to air-cooled condenser is generally 1:15.
If the air-cooled condenser is 300 square meters, the water-cooled condenser is: 300 ÷ 15=20 square meters. The ratio of poor cooling water quality can be appropriately reduced to around 1:10.
